We’ve noticed that a lot of new mums use Lansinoh HPA Lanolin Nipple Cream during the early days and weeks of breastfeeding, so we’ve asked a colleague, who’s also recently become a new mum, to provide a product review for Parents Powwow.

It’s very common to experience sore nipples during the early days of breastfeeding when the baby is feeding frequently and for long periods. However breastfeeding doesn’t need to stop. Lansinoh HPA Lanolin Nipple Cream provides instant soothing relief for sore and cracked nipples by providing a moisture barrier which immediately comforts whilst also aiding natural healing.

Lansinoh HPA is made from the purest lanolin and is free from perfume, preservatives, antioxidants and additives. It has no taste or colour and is hypoallergenic, so doesn’t need to be wiped off before you breastfeed your baby. It has a rather thick, sticky texture and you only need to use the tiniest pea-sized amount per application – this should be applied very thinly to the whole nipple area after each breastfeed and as often as needed.

A 40ml tube of Lansinoh costs around £10.00 so it’s a tad pricier than other nipple creams on the market, but a little goes a very long way and one tube lasts for months. It’s also great for providing soothing relief from other minor skin conditions such as patches of dry itchy skin; minor cuts and burns, nappy rash and cradle cap. It also makes a fabulously rich and moisturising lip balm.

Parents Powwow’s verdict: Highly recommended for mums during those challenging early days of breastfeeding! A must-have for inclusion in your birth bag!
